Planet Me

Spring has pledged its commitment to and involvement in Planet Me, a global environmental programme initiated by TNT. Planet me is a  TNT group-wide project which is aimed at protecting our environment in the fight against climate change.

Spring believes that corporate activities combined with individual actions can make a profound difference in the fight against climate change. The ambition of Planet Me is for the TNT group to become the first zero emission mail and express delivery company. Achieving this demands responsible leadership and commitment to make a lasting difference.

Spring Global Mail Management Team has identified target reductions in three key areas:

  • Reducing business travel which will help reduce CO2 emissions.  Employees must all endeavour to use alternative solutions such as making better use of existing videoconferencing facilities. A car pooling policy has been introduced and employees are asked to be  more responsible against making unnecessary journeys or meetings.
  • Secondly, Spring is committed to reduce the amount of energy consumed - by switching off lights, PC screens and all other electrical equipment when not in use. This also includes to reduce building energy consumption and reduce the use of ‘non-green’ materials in operations.
  • And finally reducing  the company carbon footprint, simply by saving on paper and printing.

Additionally, Spring will also review and seek to influence the policy of its suppliers. Spring Global Mail employees are also being encouraged to become involved at home. The Planet Me programme can be found on the Planet Me website at www.tntplanetme.com
