Japan

Addressing formats
With the exception of major roads, Japanese streets are not named. Instead, cities and towns are subdivided into areas, subareas and blocks.

In the address below, Tokyo is the prefecture; Minato-Ku is city ward (also city or village); Shibaura 4-Chome is the name of the city district; and 3-4 is the city block and building number. The postal code contains seven digits (the format is always NNN-NNNN) and is placed to the right of the city.
